Jose on a drive for improvements

Fixing cars is one of Jose Victorino Ugalde’s favorite pastimes. And as a production supervisor at Padlocks Profit Center in Mexico, he takes his drive to improve out of the garage and into the workplace.

Jose is passionate about improvement. He believes that facing and overcoming challenges, in the garage or at work, is the best way to make improvements happen.

“Every day I try to modify or improve something in my work,” he says. “This type of daily challenge can lead to ideas about how to improve through new projects or processes. I think that doing things the same way is never a good idea – it is important to always look for more options to stay innovative.”

Having previously worked as a Quality Analyst and a Quality Supervisor, he is now responsible for supervising production at the Padlocks Profit Center, a role that comes naturally to him.

As a leader, he says it is important for him to involve his personnel on a regular basis, and to create an atmosphere of teamwork.

His tasks include overseeing working processes, security conditions, and the quality and working environment. He is also responsible for reducing dead-time when it comes to working processes, and he manages both people and materials to get the best results out of production and operations.

One significant challenge was moving a plant from one place to another. This required many hours of work to start production. Overcoming this challenge, Jose says, led to improved handling standards at the facility.
