People come first for IT manager
For Flor Maldonado-Rodriguez, an IT manager at Group company Adams Rite, there is no professional satisfaction greater than seeing the expressions of appreciation on a user’s face after she helps them to solve an IT problem.

Flor is in charge of overall management of information and communication technology and personnel. Most of her days begin early with a quick check of her e-mails from ASSA ABLOY’s offices around the world.
For her, the human interaction between the IT team and the users fuels her energetic approach to the job. “I was able to grow my career because of the users, they have a lot of knowledge and insights to share with the IT professionals, and that really helps us to do our job better. So, communication between all levels helps us to develop and grow as a company,” she says.
Indeed, innovation is important to ASSA ABLOY and according to Flor, a guiding principal to keep in mind is that “technology does not sit still.”
“We have to keep changing our ways of working and we must be willing to continue working, learning and adapting to changes in the world around us,” she says.
Such was the approach taken by the IT department, which led to one of the more innovative solutions to a challenge that Maldonado-Rodriguez has worked on during her time at ASSA ABLOY.
“We recently introduced a way to handle our shipping and logistics through a method of automation. New everything is handled and controlled from our ERP. Today users work near 100 percent efficiency,” she says.
