UNION Architectural Hardware is proud to announce its most eagerly awaited product launch , the new British Standard 5 lever mortice lock - UNION StrongBOLT™.
UNION already has a large following in the BS 5 lever mortice market with the UNION 2134E BS 5 lever deadlock voted winner of both ‘best buy’ and ‘exceptional value’ awards in 2007 by the leading consumer magazine ‘Which?’.
Building upon the strength of this award winning product and the skills of the in-house design team at ASSA ABLOY UK and Guli, UNION has developed a new, cost effective yet highly efficient variant ideal for both first and retro fit markets.
UNION StrongBOLT™ features radius inner forends for ease of first fit installation or simple retro fit replacement. It is designed using the same footprint as many UK first fit products, therefore eliminating the need for additional tooling or carpentry saving time and money as well as avoiding any aesthetic damage to the door that may occur on a retro fit installation.
In addition to the standard characteristics you would expect from a BS 3621:2007 mortice lock, such as anti-pick, anti-saw and anti-drill security features, UNION StrongBOLT™ has a unique chamfered bolt design which increases the performance of the lock under attack.
‘It’s all about the bolt!’ says Karen Hubbard, UNION Product Manager for mortice locks. The bolt has a distinctive chamfered angle which increases resistance under side load attack. In addition, the hardened steel pins within the bolt construction provide resistance to sawing and the shape of the bolt also provides little opportunity for destructive tools to make positive contact’ she adds.
‘We are very excited about the launch of the UNION StrongBOLT™ says Ian Bartlett, Head of Product Management and Marketing for UNION. ‘Our customers have requested a UNION product of this nature and we have worked hard to develop an offering that goes above and beyond that of our competitors’ he adds.
Available in sash lock and deadlock variants, the product is tested to BS3621:2007 and BS EN 1634-1, assessed for use on 60 minute timber fire doors.
The sash lock version is non-handed with an easily reversible latch bolt. The latch head featured a radius design for smooth operation.
Both variants are available in both satin stainless steel and satin brass finishes. The products are individually boxed and supplied in outer cartons of 10. For more information on this product, please contact Karen Hubbard on 01902 364123.
