Adams Rite, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of The ASSA ABLOY Group, has been working with New Charter Homes in supplying locking hardware for its homes across Tameside.
New Charter Homes is part of the wider New Charter Hosuing Trust Group, which owns around 18,600 homes across the North West and Nottingham. It employs approximately 800 people and has an annual turnover of around £90million.
Working with the commercial division of Droylsden Glass, Adams Rite 1391 Electric Solenoid Bolts were installed on 24 doors at New Charter Homes, providing a secure door set solution. The work was carried out as part of an entrance re-modeling project with New Charter’s building company as the main contractor.
The 1391 electric solenoid bolts are easily integrated as part of an access control system or through remote control equipment like a push button, keypad or timer. This ease of integration causes minimal disruption at tenanted properties, making it an ideal solution for communal housing applications.
Facilitating the remote access and exit control of aluminium, timber and steel doors, the Adams Rite 1391 electric solenoid bolts allow for door status and lock sensor monitoring, which is key for ensuring tenant safety, whilst allowing access for authorised visitors and other building users.
Kevin Thackeray of Droylsden Glass, commented:
“The decision was made to upgrade to the Adams Rite electric solenoid bolt because of the additional functionality it provided, as well as its proven track record in commercial applications.
“Plus, as well as offering all the features expected from high quality security hardware, its streamlined look when installed helped to create an attractive finish. Although social housing projects are often dictated by standards, budget and timescales, it is important to remember that attractive aesthetics and appealing environments are also part of tenant welfare and an important part of social housing specification.”
Steve Rigby, Regional Sales Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, added:
“Droylsden Glass has an excellent reputation throughout Greater Manchester and its previous experience in social housing and local council projects meant they were able to deliver the door sets on time and on budget.
“The electric solenoid bolts specified by the housing trust are becoming increasingly popular for these types of applications - where equal prominence needs to be given to access and tenant security.”
The 1391 features a 16mm throw that has held under 13,000N of side load, and it can be concealed in the door or frame for a streamline finish, providing a positive fail-safe operation at all times. Plus, for ease of installation and flexibility the security product can be fitted vertically or horizontally.
