ASSA ABLOY will be using this year’s IFSEC exhibition to display its range of CE marked door closers, which assist building owners in fulfilling the duties under the Equality Act 2010 (EA), helping specifically to meet with BS8300 and Approved Document M guidelines.
Designed to assist in the easy opening of doors by the elderly or those with a disability, ASSA ABLOY’s new range of door closers are suitable for a wide range of applications, including health, education, offices, leisure and retail buildings, and social housing.
The range incorporates rack and pinion variants - DC200, DC340, DC347 and a slide arm closer, DC340T, as well as two cam-motion variants, the DC500 and DC700, which are practical and cost effective. Alongside these surface mounted closers, ASSA ABLOY also offers the DC860 concealed cam-motion closer.
The rack and pinion variants come with adjustable strengths for a variety of applications, and backcheck is a standard throughout the range.
Cam-motion closers have the advantage of a reduced opening force at the beginning of the opening cycle, the most strenuous part of opening a door, which helps building owners to meet with Approved Document M. The practical result is that the door requires less effort by the user compared to a rack and pinion type design, while still maintaining closing force.
Electromechanical closers are also included in the comprehensive range, offering hold open and swing free functionality that is ideal for use within exit routes.
The ASSA ABLOY G460, G461, G462 and G464 fire door systems have been specially designed to operate on both single and double fire doors. These products deliver smoke protection and utilise sliding arms. ASSA ABLOY fire door systems interface into the fire alarm and require a 24V DC power supply in order to self-close in the event of the fire.
Lorna Ardern, Door Closer Product Manager for ASSA ABLOY, said: “IFSEC offers an ideal opportunity to display our comprehensive door closer range. With building owners and specifiers under mounting pressure to conform to Building Regulations and standards, products that help them to meet such guidelines are becoming increasingly popular.
“The new range delivers a competitively-priced selection of closers, purpose built, which will exceed similar products on the market.”
