ASSA, a part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of the ASSA ABLOY Group, is urging architects and facilities managers to comply with legislation by specifying its high security ASSURE panic and emergency exit hardware devices.
ASSA’s comprehensive ASSURE range of high security exit hardware includes a selection of push bars, push pads and locking systems conforming to either BSEN 1125 (2008) or BSEN 179 (2008). Offering practical security solutions for either panic escape routes, found in public buildings with high user traffic, such as theatre’s or shopping centres, or emergency escape exits, such as office buildings and staff areas of public buildings.
Since the Victoria Hall disaster in 1883, panic and emergency exit hardware has been a crucial and obligatory part of public building specifications. The amendments made in 2008 to BS EN 1125 and BS EN 179, created more exacting requirements. Whilst recent record fines for companies who fail to comply with fire safety, places further emphasise on the importance of these products.
The ASSURE 1520, which includes a push bar for panic exit or push pad for emergency exit, as well as an ASSA modular 1520 escape sash lock and strike, is the only exit device on the market to feature a hardened steel deadbolt with 25mm throw for maximum security when the premises are not in use.
For added flexibility, the ASSURE 1520, which also provides automatic deadlocking, can be incorporated into an ASSA masterkey system, providing increased security and improved key control. Also available in the ASSURE range is the 8761 push bar or pad. This offers automatic deadlocking and is supplied with the ASSA modular 8761 deadlocking escape nightlatch and strike.
Karen Pearce, Product Manager for ASSA, commented:
“With record fines reaching £400,000 for fire safety breaches, it is critical that architects and specifiers are educated on the latest recommendations and select the products that will enable them to create a safe building environment.
“The comprehensive range of ASSURE products from ASSA, are not only designed with building regulations in mind, but also offer superior security and protections for a wide range of premises. ”
