Trimec® has added the new, monitored ES2100 electric strike to its extensive range of innovative locking solutions, offering three different monitoring systems.
The ES2100 has been designed specifically for use in high traffic applications where there is a requirement for durability along with security and accessibility.
Electric strikes currently offer a level of monitoring which allows building owners to see if a door is secure from a panel in a remote monitoring site. These strikes work by sensing if the latchbolt has depressed a switch within the strike jaw, and whether the solenoid is positioned as locked or unlocked.
This traditional monitoring can easily be compromised by wedging an object into the strike jaw, depressing the switch and putting the solenoid into the locked position, making the remote monitoring software think that the door is shut and secure, when in reality it is open.
To overcome this, the Trimec® ES2100 has an integrated door position sensor in the strike body which is triggered by a locally positioned receiver or alternatively, by a UNION lockcase. Standard features for the ES2100 include variable voltage from 10-30V DC and patented, field selectable fail safe/fail secure mode change.
Manufactured using solid stainless steel, the ES2100 has been tested to 1.5 million operations and is CE approved. Available directly or through existing distribution channels, the ES2100 operates with a minimum holding force of 1000kg.
Andy Stolworthy, Product Manager for Trimec, commented:
“In introducing the ES2100 to the UK market we are further enhancing the Trimec® reputation for innovation and high quality, delivering a solution that is suitable for use with all access control systems and open in and on open out doors.
“The ES2100 ensures a door position sensor is installed when the cables are already in place for the power and existing monitoring functions, cutting down on installation time and overcoming any potential installer ignorance. The result is accurate monitoring of the door giving the building owners confidence that when the system reports a door is shut and secure, it really is”
