Adams Rite, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY, has updated its RIBA-approved CPD course on regulatory compliance for architects, to include the latest industry standards.
Entitled ‘The Future of Aluminium Door Locking, Electric Locking and Escape Devices – Regulatory Compliance: Myths and Reality’, Adams Rite’s CPD course has recently been updated to include material on the forthcoming BS EN 1627.
The informative seminar offers an exploration of the misconceptions within standards and regulations, and aims to advise its audience on the most recent legislative developments in the industry. As specialists in aluminium door locking,
Adams Rite is a well-placed source for providing CPD training, and the brand has an active role in improving standards. Having previously led the market in helping fabricators and system houses test door sets to the industry recognised LPS 1175 and PAS 24 standard, Adams Rite will be amongst the first to offer the same expert advice and testing facilities for the new BS EN 1627, before a scheme is formalised later in the year.
As an organisation, Adams Rite has achieved the international standard ISO 9001:2000, with a quality management system, which produces products that consistently meet with customer and regulatory standards.
Andy Stolworthy, Product Manager for Adams Rite, said:
“The CPD course is there to keep architects up-to-date with an ever-evolving industry, hence the recent inclusion of BS EN 1627. In the past, there has been confusion over what is mandatory, and much misinterpretation and misunderstanding.
“For example, there is a widely-believed myth that it is possible for a lock to meet the requirements under the Equality Act. Finer points of the Act have created this confusion, as, on the contrary, not only is there no such thing as a compliant lock, but there is no such thing as a non-compliant lock. It is the assembly that is compliant (or not!). This is exactly the sort of misunderstanding that we aim to resolve.
“The courses are available at our ASSA ABLOY Training Academy, based in the Midlands, or onsite training is also available. RIBA Architects can use our CPD courses to gain training points, which supplement their annual points targets, leaving them well-equipped to meet the necessary standards.”
