UNION, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY UK, is encouraging office and facilities managers to consider an easy update to its access control requirements.
The UNION Codehandle is a patented lever furniture design, with integral access control, providing easy, convenient key-less locking for internal doors.
Fully retrofittable Codehandle’s keypad locking system is quick and convenient to use, whilst its easily changeable access codes make it an ideal solution for restricting access to private areas within commercial properties.
UNION Product Manager, Brett Adderley, commented:
“Commercial spaces, and even public buildings, often house areas where restricted access is needed but the main priority is easy access for authorised users over security of property.
“The beauty of Codehandle is that it eliminates the need for key management, which can become complicated and unsecure when multiple users are involved. User codes on Codehandle can be easily and frequently changed, without the need to physically redistribute keys, plus the keypad is easy to operate compared to traditional mechanical variants, allowing for quick access to private office areas in frequent use.
“Project rooms are ideal applications, due to the turnover of team members and introduction of new confidential projects, which would in turn require a change in access rights. Codehandle enables the administrator to simply delete the user code assigned to an old project and issue a new code to authorised personnel – allowing for up to nine different user codes at any one time.
“Codehandle is an easy way to convert an existing door into a digital locking door, without the associated costs to building owners and managers of complete access control systems. Codehandle is fitted as easily as standard door furniture, using only two screws. No cables or wires are involved, requiring no specialist skill to achieve a stand alone access control unit”
Supplied in an attractive compact design with a satin stainless steel finish and a satin chrome trim, Codehandle can store up to nine user codes and one administration code, which can all be changed an unlimited number of times.
The handle has both a manual and automatic locking mode. In manual mode the handle is unlocked by entering a correct user code, and will remain unlocked until the lock button is pressed. When switched to automatic mode the handle will lock promptly following unlocking.
The handle provides both visual and acoustic feedback to operation. Acoustic feedback can be switched off with use of the master code. The product is powered by two CRV, 3V lithium batteries easily access within the handle, and codes will not be lost when the batteries are removed.
UNION supplies an extensive range of locks and architectural hardware used in many applications through professional locksmiths and ironmongers.
