Adams Rite, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, an ASSA ABLOY company, has launched a new version of its popular ARC-51N transom door closer, making it ideal for retrofit and the RMI market.
The new variable spring strength door closer shares the same footprint as the current fixed spring variant, the only difference being an alternate L bracket. Thanks to its common footprint, it can be used on a wide variety of commercial renovation and maintenance programmes, and the retrofit process is quick and simple.
The current range offers customers 3 fixed spring versions - light, medium and heavy, matching the closing force requirements in EN1154 for EN2, 3 & 4 respectively.
With a lighter option than the fixed spring versions, building users will benefit from the reduced effort needed to open the door, and the peace of mind that the door will be controlled and secure upon closing. The adjustable spring can be easily changed between EN 1 – 4 to provide a variable closing force.
Andy Stolworthy, Product Manager for Adams Rite, said: “Door opening force requirements are obviously a priority for building owners and occupiers; keeping them as low as practically possible while ensuring the door closes to maintain security and heat retention. This unit allows a door to be adjusted to ensure the optimum balance between the two.
“A word of caution, if the doorset is specified to meet the opening force requirements of Approved Document M, a cam motion unit should be used, which Adams Rite can also supply.”
Adams Rite is the leading supplier of aluminium door locking, electric locking and escape devices, supplying the top OEM door manufacturers worldwide. The company is part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions.
